Tacky mats, also known as tack mats or sticky mats are primarily used in specialist applications. So where should they be used and what are the benefits? We have put together this blog to help you decide whether tacky mats are right for you.
What are tacky mats?
Once the sticky surface becomes saturated with dirt and starts to become ineffective, the dirty layer can be peeled off to reveal a new, fresh tacky layer. When you reach your final layer, you don't have to buy a whole new mat, you can simply buy replacement inserts.
Tack mats are best for removing fine particles and dust, not heavy dirt. However, if heavy dirt is a particular issue, you can use a Dual Tacky Mat. This is a highly effective combination mat which has both a bi-level entrance mat and a tacky mat in one. A Dual Tacky Mat acts as a dirt, moisture and dust stopper in one.

Where are tacky mats best used?
Tacky mats are best suited to areas where cleanliness is high on the agenda. Most of you will be reading this thinking 'of course cleanliness is high on my agenda'. However, we are not talking about the removal of heavy dirt and water here; we are talking about removing fine dust particles for highly sensitive areas.
These can include:
- Healthcare facilities
- Laboratories
- Clean Rooms
- Factories
- Sports Halls & Gymnasiums
- Factories & Industrial Facilities
- Rooms with sensitive equipment
